Details about the facilities provided to graduates by college can be found here. Here is a short list of some of the facilities the MCR provides for its members in college.
The College
All MCR members have full access to college, its gardens and grounds. College members can also book rooms for events.
The MCR Common Room
The MCR common room can be used by anyone, anytime. It’s a nice place to sit back, relax and have a chat with other MCR members. There’s lots of free tea, coffee and biscuits, a TV, sound system, computer with printer (free to use for all MCR members) and comfy sofas. MCR members also have access to the JCR (undergraduate) common room and their facilities as well.
Hall & Bar
Members of college have access to the hall and bar. The hall provides canteen style breakfast, lunch and dinner and formal dinner on Friday evenings (all subsidised by the college). They cater to most dietary requirements and always have a vegetarian and vegan option. The college bar provides cheap drinks and a fun atmosphere, but watch your head as you go down!
Sports Facilities
MCR members have access to the University gym at the Iffley road sports centre as well as the college boat house. In addition to the University sports there are lots of college level sports teams that MCR members can join: football, rugby, netball, rowing, ultimate frisbee and cricket. We can also use the lawns for croquet throughout the summer.
The Library
The college library is just for use by college members. All graduate students also have access to the University libraries, many of which are only a short walk from the main college site.
Punting
For a small fee (subsidised by the college) all MCR members can book punts on the Cherwell (one of the rivers running through Oxford) in the summer term. There’s no limit on the number of times you can go so all MCR members can get out on the river and enjoy Oxford in the sun.
